The Sighthounds were developed in the Southern Hemisphere, in the continent of Africa and in southeast Asia, from the southern wolves. The common characteristics which evolved, due to the climate and geographic characteristic of those regions, include: large ears; light bone; and great speed and coursing ability, necessary to run down prey in open country.
