The Tibetan Terrier is not a true terrier. Historically, it was kept by Tibetan monks for companionship, acting as a very vocal watchdog. This alert and inquisitive breed has not attained the popularity of its close relative, the Lhasa Apso. However, it makes a loving companion, requires little exercise, and is reasonably easy to obedience train. Wary of strangers, it has retained its guarding attributes, using its loud voice at the slightest provocation.
